The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has announced that the federal government has stopped the payment of subsidy on power amounting to about N600bn.
This comes as power generation companies condemned the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading company of failing in its obligations in terms of payment for power generated by the Gencos.
According to the NERC Chairman, Mr Sanusi Garba subsidy on electricity is a policy issue of the federal government and the role of the commission is to make a determination of the rates that consumers should pay so as to strike a balance between consumers and investors.
